Our clients liked the idea of an island however didn’t think it would be possible within the existing space. They were keen to maintain the level of storage with the addition of integrated recycling bins. Also wishing to have better access to windows. All in all, our clients ultimately wanted the wow factor for their new Poggenpohl kitchen.
The kitchen had lots of interesting existing features; including a steel zodiac designed door leading to the living room, galvanised steel panelled ceiling and amazing lake and garden views. We were keen to maintain and enhance these where possible.
We managed to design in a central island for both cooking, washing up and preparation which the clients were delighted about. This also made better use of the floor space and the flow of the kitchen improved.
By suspending a new ceiling bulkhead mirroring the shape of the island allowed for new feature lighting. Painted in matt white also helping to reflect much needed light within the kitchen space.
By simply altering the height of the booth seating the view to the outside was also improved.
Again keeping in mind the outstanding views, this influenced our material and colour selection for the finished kitchen. We used a natural granite for the work surfaces and wall panel detail to almost bring the outside in. A streamlined fully functional kitchen with a nod to nature. The final result speaks for itself.
